A&J Enterprises is located on land that once housed the Delaware & Hudson Railroad yards and roundhouse. In recent memory, the land housed Ondawa Agway – part of the Agway Cooperative Network. In the 1990s, Agway began selling off its stores and today all stores carrying the Agway name are independently owned and operated. In June of 2000, Dick & Sandy Hickland purchased Ondawa Agway and A&J Enterprises (sometimes known as A&J Agway) was born. Their mission was, and remains, to keep local jobs and shopping options available to the residents of Salem. Today, A&J carries a full line of lumber & building supplies, farm & pet feeds and supplies, hardware, lawn care needs and a seasonal greenhouse.
And in case you’re wondering…. A&J is a reference to the names of Dick and Sandy’s 7 children.
